For a routine weekly top-up on a settled pond, the slime-coat additive is doing very little, because the fish haven't been handled and their coats are intact. Paying a premium for aloe on every water change is paying for a feature you aren't using. Keep the two jobs separate in your head: a plain chlorine and chloramine neutralizer for regular water changes, and a slime-coat conditioner set aside for the days you disturb the fish. Buying one bottle to cover both means overpaying on every top-up for a benefit you need a few times a year.
Know your water: read the label and your utility report
